Aloha Students, Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to a new school year! We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating summer.
Here at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School, learning did not take a break. Over the summer, our students engaged in opportunities like our 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Enrichment Exploration, as well as the English Language Learner Extension Program. These summer experiences perfectly reflect our school vision: “E Holomua i Ka Na‘auao” to progress through knowledge.
At CKMS, we hold high expectations for all students, believing that everyone can achieve their full potential academically and personally when both challenged and supported. This year, in addition to continuing our Literacy and Teaming initiatives, we are excited to focus on Active Engagement and the HĀ framework, honoring Hawaiian values and cultural practices.
Important Dates & Reminders:
Fee Payment and School IDs: (fee collection, bus and lunch): Anytime after July 13 from 8-3pm in the CKMS main office. Cash or check payments only, credit cards not accepted. Students can take their 2026-27 ID picture in the library during Fee Payment days.
Bus Payments: Quarter 1 Bus Applications are accepted only July 13 - August 7, 2026.
- Monday, August 3: Students in grades 7 and 8 ONLY report by 7:50. Parents are invited to attend a Parent Assembly and meet your child's teachers until approximately 11:00 am and return to pick up your child at 2:00 pm. A more detailed schedule will be available through Parent Square. 6th grade students DO NOT report on this day.
- Tuesday, August 4: Students in grade 6 ONLY report by 7:50. Parents are invited to attend a Parent Assembly and meet your child's teachers until approximately 11:00 am and return to pick up your child at 2:00 pm. A more detailed schedule will be available through Parent Square. 7th/8th grade students DO NOT report on this day.
- Wednesday, August 5: All Students report and school ends at 1:15 pm.
- Thursday, August 6 and Friday, August 7: All Students report and school ends at 2:00 pm.
Car Pick Up:
- 7th & 8th grade students are picked up in front of the Admin/Building I parking lot.
- 6th grade students are picked up at the back parking lot behind the cafeteria.
- Multiple siblings can be picked up all together at the 7th/8th pick up area.
