In order to provide the best learning experience for students, the Hawaii Department of Education together with Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School will be inviting students to participate in two different surveys:
- Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Survey - Students will reflect on topics such as self-awareness, growth mindset, and grit. This survey will be administered twice (Fall & Spring). The Fall survey will take place on September 18, 2023, via your child's advisory class.
- Student Perception Survey (SPS) - Students will respond to topics related to classroom and school experiences. This survey will be administered in October or November of 2023.
We are asking that all of our students participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how to improve and adapt our school to their needs. If a student does not feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.
Parent letters regarding the surveys were distributed to students on August 31, 2023.
Should you prefer your child not participate in the upcoming SEL and/or SPS surveys please fill out and return the survey declination form to Marcia Montayre.
