This is Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School. This will be your home 6 hours a day 5 days a week, 182 days a year, for the next three years. Getting used to new school can be difficult: a new campus, a new schedule and new classmates. Here are some of the buildings on campus that you'll need to know. This is the sixth grade house, building F. Most 6th grade classes will be in this building. Rooms that are downstairs are in the 100s, and rooms that are upstairs are in the 200s. This is the PE building, building E. All PE classes will be in this building. This is the music building, building J. Band and chorus classes are in this building. This is the library. Media production, leadership, yearbook, iPad,  and beginner media classes are in this building. Here is where you can get temporary IDs, loaner clothes, and borrow books. This is the office and administration building, building A. Here is where you pay for lunch bus passes and drop off doctors notes. This is the art building, building H. Here is where the art classes are held. Dress code: Shorts and skirts must fully cover the buttocks and underwear. Oversized and see-through apparel is not allowed. You can wear long-sleeve shirts under your school uniform.  You can wear sweaters and jackets over your uniform. School uniforms must be worn unless it's a free dress day. On free dress days clothing must cover the midriff and have no cleavage showing. Do's and Don'ts of Middle School: Be friendly. Being friendly can really make a difference in someone's day so a simple smile, wave, or hello can cheer someone up. Don't step on the grass. When you hear this rule you'll probably think it's crazy but the custodians work very hard at keeping this campus clean and nice so if everyone steps on the same part of the grass then the grass will end up turning into dirt. And here at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School we want to keep our campus in its beautiful state so please do your part and don't step on the grass. Don't procrastinate. Oh my gosh, I didn't do my homework! I, I didn't do my homework! Nooooo! Work can usually pile up so procrastinating can lead you to doing everything at the end, rushing and ending up with a bad grade due to that, so don't procrastinate. Stay organized. Staying organized can help to make sure that your work doesn't pile up. Don't chew gum. Like most schools chewing gum isn't allowed. Chewing gum results in the sidewalks and desks being littered with nasty, old, gum and we don't want that. If you see trash in the ground, pick it up. This will also help to keep our campus clean. Common Concerns. Being on time is probably one of your concerns. Here at Chiefess, in between your different classes you have three minutes to get to your next class. You may be thinking that 3 minutes is too short but it's actually pretty long and I guarantee that you will get to your class on time. But make sure that you don't hang out or talk to your friends after the bell rings. You will have recess for that so there's no need to worry. Another thing that troubles many new students is navigating the school's campus. This school is bigger and new so it'll take some getting used to. There are a lot of classrooms which means that students do end up getting lost. If you do don't worry, teachers and other students will understand and can help you out. Homework is probably one of your next concerns. Having up to nine teachers is a lot to juggle already but getting homework for all of those classes is even more difficult to juggle. But your classes are split up into two different days. There are A days for your periods 1 2 3 4 and 5 and there are B days that include your periods 1 6 7 8 and 9 this gives you at least two days to finish your homework since the school is larger and there are more people you might be a little intimidated by everyone. Take for example the 8th graders. Don't worry because most are friendly and willing to help you out. Another concern is about friends and bullies. You will make many new friends and unfortunately most people move on from old ones but don't worry, it's normal to have your friends change as you grow and get older. There are always going to be mean people who tease. There are counselors, teachers, and other adults who you can tell and get help from. Don't be a bully, be nice. Passing classes. You have more subjects and more subjects means more work so here are some tips on how to guarantee that you get that "A". Tip number one, study. In most of your classes you will get tests. In order to guarantee that "A" you will have to study. Tip number two, ask questions if you need help. Asking for help on your homework or classwork can help you know the concept that you're being tested about before the test comes your way. Follow this and you will do well in middle school.
